The easiest to make among the other zong - this is the alkaline zong. Just two ingredients needed which is alkaline water & glutinous rice. 

The rice would be soaked in alkaline water before draining them. Then they will be wrapped and boiled for 4 hours before hanging to cool at room temperature. You may also find variations with red beans inside them. 

Our Red Bean variant's paste is made at home and has a hint of orange from the rind

Sold in five's; includes brown sugar
